Aretha Franklin to jedna z najsłynniejszych ikon muzyki – to o niej myślimy mówiąc ‘diva muzyki soul’ czy ‘królowa gospel’. Będąc inspiracją dla kilku pokoleń współczesnych wokalistek (Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Alicia Keys), wydała prawie 50 płyt, została przyjęta w poczet „Rock’N’Roll Hall Of Fame”, uhonorowano ją 18 statuetkami nagród Grammy, a przebój „Respect” nie opuszcza TOP5 listy utworów wszechczasów magazynu The Rolling Stone.

Jesienią 2014 postanowiła zadziwić wszystkich i wydać zupełnie nowy album studyjny : „Aretha Franklin Sings The Greatest Diva Classics”. Na płycie znajdują się zarówno największe współczesne przeboje (covery m.in. Adele, Alicii Keys, Destiny’s Child) jak i klasyki muzyki współczesnej, oryginalnie śpiewane przez Sinead O’Connor, Barbrę Streisand czy Whitney Houston i Chakę Kahn. Cały proces powstawania płyty nadzorował sam Clive Davis, słynny producent odpowiedzialny za najlepsze nagrania Whitney Houston, Roda Stewarta, Alicii Keys, Kelly Clarkson i innych artystów nagrywających dla wytwórni RCA, Arista i Columbia Records.

Na płycie Arethy pojawiają się także Kelly „Babyface” Edmonds (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand) i Andre 3000 (raper znany z duetu OutKast).
