Piąty studyjny album grupy Varius Manx - "Ego". Oryginalnie wydany w 1996 roku krążek był pierwszym nagranym z nową wokalistką, Kasią Stankiewicz, która zastąpiła Anitę Lipnicką. Płyta "Ego" jeszcze w dniu premiery pokryła się złotem, a zaledwie tydzień później zespół otrzymał platynową płytę za sprzedaż tego albumu.
Singlem promującym całe wydawnictwo była jedna z najpopularniejszych polskich piosenek lat 90-tych "Orła cień". Kompozycja zdecydowanie różniła się od tego, co prezentował zespół na swoich poprzednich płytach.
"Ta piosenka nie miała znaleźć się nawet na płycie, a jednak ten dziwny twór o rzadko spotykanej formie, z tekstem o tajemniczej treści wessał kraj. Dla mnie ten kolosalny debiut i sukces był o tak samo kolosalnej prawdzie i energii, z jaką wtargnęłam na scenę" - pisała z okazji rocznicy zespołu Stankiewicz.
