Od 2008 roku Filharmonicy Wiedeńscy dostarczają niezwykłych, muzycznych doznań mieszkańcom Wiednia oraz gościom przybyłym do miasta, poprzez organizację darmowego koncertu w parku przy pałacu Schönbrunn. Pałac, a także barokowy park, posiadające status światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO, są doskonałym miejscem na to wydarzenie! Każdego roku bierze w nim udział ok.100.000 osób. Koncert jest również transmitowany w rozgłośniach radiowych i telewizyjnych w ponad 60 krajach, docierając tym samym do kilkumilionowej widowni.

W ostatnich latach orkiestrą dyrygowali: Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, Franz Welser-Most, Daniel Barenboim i Georges Pretre. Wśród solistów gościli Jefim Bronfman i Benjamin Schmid. Ze względu na ograniczenia związane z pandemią covid – 19, tegoroczny koncert odbędzie się 18 września, przy uwzględnieniu rygorystycznych zasad „ dystansu społecznego”. Koncert pod hasłem " Love" poprowadzi ponownie słynny rosyjski dyrygent Valery Gergiev, solistą zaś będzie słynny tenor, gwiazda światowych scen operowych - Jonas Kaufmann.
