7 i 8 lipca 2016 roku w legendarnym amfiteatrze w Pompejach odbyły się dwa widowiskowe koncerty Davida Gilmoura. Artysta wrócił na scenę starożytnego obiektu u stóp wulkanu Wezuwiusz 45 lat po swoim pierwszym występie w tym miejscu, zarejestrowanym na filmie Pink Floyd "Live at Pompeii".

Koncerty w ramach trasy Rattle That Lock Tour były pierwszym show z udziałem publiczności, jakie odbyły się w wybudowanym w 90 r p.n.e. rzymskim amfiteatrze, arenie walk gladiatorów do czasu wybuchu Wezuwiusza w 79 roku naszej ery. "To magiczne miejsce. Powrót tutaj, zobaczenie tej sceny, było czymś przytłaczającym. To miejsce pełne duchów…" – mówił o antycznej budowli, w której odbył się koncert, David Gilmour.

Nagranie, zarejestrowane w systemie 4K przez reżysera Gavina Eldera, zawierać będzie najlepsze momenty z obu występów. Spektakularne widowisko pełne jest też niezwykłych efektów specjalnych, w tym laserów, efektów pirotechnicznych i wizualizacji wyświetlanych na okrągłym ekranie superpanoramicznym.

UWAGA: w specjalnym boxie "Live in Pompeii" (2 CD+2 Blu-Ray) znalazł się wybór utworów z koncertu we Wrocławiu, w tym wykonanie "The Girl In The Yellow Dress" z Leszkiem Możdżerem.

David Gilmour, wraz z szeregiem wybitnych muzyków, wykonał w Pompejach między innymi tytułowe utwory ze swoich ostatnich dwóch, solowych płyt – "Rattle That Lock" i "On An Island", a także klasyczne kompozycje Pink Floyd – "Wish You Were Here", "Comfortably Numb" i "One Of The Days" – utwór, który Pink Floyd zagrali w Pompejach także w 1971 roku. Na obu koncertach publiczność usłyszała także "The Great Gig In The Sky" z "Dark Side Of The Moon", który artysta bardzo rzadko wykonuje solo.
