Nowy album Davida Gilmoura "Luck and Strange" nagrywany był przez pięć miesięcy w Brighton i Londynie, jest to jego pierwszy nowy materiał od dziewięciu lat. Za produkcję odpowiedzialni są David i Charlie Andrew, którzy są najbardziej znani ze swojej współpracy z ALT-J i Mariką Hackman, a teksty napisała głównie Polly Samson - wcześniejsza współautorka Gilmoura przez ostatnie trzydzieści lat. Płyta "Luck and Strange" zawiera osiem nowych utworów oraz przeróbkę The Montgolfier Brothers "Between Two Points" z udziałem Romany Gilmour, która w nim zaśpiewała i zagrała na harfie.
