Kaipa powraca! Hans Lundin rozpoczął karierę muzyczną latem 1964 roku. Pierwsze doświadczenia, które zdobywał jako organista i wokalista, były, jak sam mówi, „najlepszą edukacją, jaką mogłem zdobyć”. Dziewięć lat później, w 1973 roku założył grupę KAIPA.

Po 60 latach swojej kariery, on i jego obecni koledzy z zespołu Per Nilsson, Jonas Reingold, Darby Todd, Patrik Lundström i Aleena Gibson z dumą ogłaszają wydanie 15. studyjnego albumu grupy, zatytułowanego „Sommargryningsljus (Summer Dawn Light)”.

„Słońce wschodzi szepczącym świtem, by wydobyć z cieni nocy zupełnie nowy dzień” – to słowa otwierające piosenkę „Songs in Our Hands”. Temat świtu zawsze był bliski sercu Hansa Lundina, zwłaszcza w jego tekstach. Na debiutanckiej płycie wydanej w 1975 roku pisał o nim w piosence „Se var morgon gry”. Również w innych utworach podejmował ten temat. Nowym albumem zamyka krąg i wraca do miejsca, w którym wszystko się zaczęło.

„Sommargryningsljus” zawiera osiem utworów przedstawiających nocną podróż od zmierzchu do świtu, przy czym pierwsze dwa utwory przedstawiają mrok, a ostatnie dwa wskazują brzask. Tę nocną odyseję można postrzegać jako metaforę stanu pomiędzy śmiercią a odrodzeniem lub alegorię życia opowiedzianą w odwrotnej kolejności. Bonusem jest singlowa wersja „Sommargryningsljus”

Podstawowe struktury dwóch z czterech długich utworów znajdujących się w środkowej części albumu (Seven Birds i Spiderweb Train) zostały pierwotnie napisane pod koniec lat 90-tych. W tym samym okresie powstały piosenki na powracający album Kaipasa Notes from the past (2002).
